We are delighted to share a wonderful photo of the calendars printed with support from the BECID project!
The Info Resilience Calendar was created by Anett Maria Reinas, Anete Sammler, Grete Koho, and Julia Siimberg, master’s students of Journalism and Communication at the University of Tartu. The calendar is designed to help older adults better understand common digital scams throughout the year and learn practical ways to protect themselves.
This news ties in beautifully with another recent achievement: on the 13th of November, our expert Maria Murumaa-Mengel received national recognition for her outstanding work. Congratulations, Maria!
In recent years, Maria has focused on topics such as misinformation, conspiracy theories, and disinformation. She has made significant contributions to ensuring that teachers, youth workers, and memory institutions have accessible, research-informed learning materials enriched with real-life examples for educating children and young people. Maria is also known for initiating innovative science-communication formats and for inspiring her students to create practical interventions that strengthen media literacy and critical thinking.
The award committee described her as one of the most influential science communicators in Estonia. Maria herself emphasises that one of the main challenges in science communication is finding the right balance: researchers must use precise disciplinary language while also ensuring that their message is understandable to everyone.

And there is even more good news! On Thursday, 13 November, Maria also delivered a lecture at the University of Tartu’s University for Seniors programme – making this truly a week full of achievements.
