BECID has launched a new series of Baltic-wide webinars aimed at professionals working in memory institutions – galleries, libraries, archives, and museums (the GLAM sector).
The webinars take place every two months and provide a platform for practitioners and researchers to share experiences, learn from each other, and discuss topics related to media literacy, information hygiene, and misinformation.
The aim of the series is to connect memory institutions across the Baltic states and offer a network for discussing media literacy–related activities, educational materials, and forms of collaboration. The series also helps strengthen ties between researchers, teachers, and cultural professionals.
Each webinar focuses on a specific theme or country, highlighting best practices and local experiences. Participants include professionals from the GLAM sector as well as media literacy experts from Estonia, Latvia, and Lithuania.
November 24, 2025, 15:00–16:00 – Introductory webinar, providing an overview of the goals and framework of the BECID webinar series. This session will introduce the main themes and present research conducted by University of Tartu students.
The introductory webinar will briefly touch upon the first observations regarding how memory institutions develop media literacy, what the main topics and challenges are, and how these will be explored in greater depth during the December follow-up seminar.
December 8, 2025, 14:15–16:00 – First official webinar. A Zoom link will be sent to all registered participants.
University of Tartu students will share insights from interviews conducted with memory institution professionals across Estonia. Their research highlights current activities supporting media literacy, key target groups, available resources, and areas where additional support is needed.
The session will also introduce the approaches of Estonian memory institutions (GLAM) and initiate the creation of a new cooperation network among the Baltic states to strengthen knowledge exchange and joint initiatives in media literacy development.
Participation is free of charge and open to all employees of Estonian memory institutions.
