Experts of University of Tartu Joined Media Literacy and Digital Age Debates at Arvamusfestival

On 8–9 August, researchers and experts from the University of Tartu took part in the annual Arvamusfestival in Paide, contributing to discussions on a wide range of societal topics.

Experts from BECID placed special emphasis in their panels on media literacy, online safety, and the influence of technology on everyday life.

14.00–15.30 – Gretel Juhansoo, Project Manager at BECID within the Institute of Social Studies, spoke in the panel The Role of Media in Covering Progressive Issues”.

14.30–16.00 – Inger Klesment, Project Manager for Media Literacy and an expert in children’s online safety, joined the discussion “How to Protect Children from Malicious Actors Online in the Age of AI”.

9th of August

14.00–15.30 – Associate Professor of Media Studies Maria Murumaa-Mengel and Professor of Affective Psychology Andero Uusberg participated in “Always Connected. Greater Productivity or Risk of Burnout?”.

14.00–15.30 – Kristina Seimann, Junior Research Fellow in Communication Studies, contributed to the panel “Doctor Google and the TikTok Advisor: How Algorithmic Information Spaces are Changing Health Behaviour”.
