Our experts Inger Klesment and Maia Klaassen Discuss the Impact of Information Overload on Raadio 2.
Every second, Google processes nearly 100,000 search queries. That adds up to roughly 8.5 billion searches per day, a staggering amount of information being accessed around the clock. BECID experrs Inger Klesment and Maia Klaassen joined the discussion in Raadio 2 to explore what this means for our minds—and why we need to take information disorders seriously.
Google’s search engine launched in 1998, and in just over 25 years, our brains have had to adapt to an entirely new reality: the constant flow of digital information. But more information doesn’t always mean more clarity. In fact, it can lead to confusion—and even harm.
Maia Klaassen, a junior researcher in media literacy at the University of Tartu and one of the driving forces behind the newly established Baltic Centre for Interventions on Information Disorders with Inger Klesment, who focuses on developing media literacy at the center, they shed light on the growing challenge of navigating today’s digital landscape.
Their conversation was part of a special program created in collaboration with the Estonian Young Academy of Sciences.
