Propawheel at the University of Tartu Library

Starting from 30 September, BECID’s spin-the-wheel installation is open at the University of Tartu Library to help you recognize political manipulation techniques during election time.

In election campaigns we are exposed almost daily to messages that don’t aim to honestly discuss our shared future, but to influence us through emotions, fears, or stereotypes.

Spin the Propawheel and win clear thinking!

How to take part?

  1. Spin the wheel and draw a manipulation technique.
  2. Reflect on where you’ve noticed this in the current election campaign.
  3. If you wish:
    • Nominate the most manipulative politician – write down the name of a politician you think uses these tricks the most, and describe which techniques you have noticed.
    • Or help others learn – post a photo of your drawn technique on social media and add an example of how it appears in the current local election campaigns.
Use hashtags: #manipolaator (an acronym from manipulator, polarizing, and politician) #valimised2025

After the local government elections, BECID will publish a summary of the collected insights on becid.ut.ee.

Step up and try it yourself!

The wheel is open in the University of Tartu Library lobby starting 30 September. Come spin, learn to spot manipulation techniques, and sharpen your critical thinking!
