Culture as a Tool to Counter Disinformation
- On the Latvian side, this webinar will highlight the experience and initiatives of the non-governmental organisation New East, which uses cultural approaches to tackle disinformation. Participants will be introduced to a variety of formats – theatre performances, exhibitions, think tanks, art workshops, and more – and will gain in-depth insight into the mono-performance “Man and the Tyrant” as a powerful example of how art can foster critical thinking and strengthen societal resilience to disinformation
- As part of the Estonian-side programme, the webinar will also feature a seminar at the intersection of culture and media. A director and actor from Vaba Lava will share their experiences based on the theatre production “Spy Girls”, discussing how the stage can be used to address information manipulation, the darker practices of social media, data usage, and media literacy more broadly.
Webinar Programme:

- 50 minutes Latvian programme, Lithuanian programme, and Estonian programme,
